Once again Google is showing us its cards in SERPS, this time with Pros and Cons snippets

Couple of months ago Google added a new type of a snippet in its SERPS, Pros and Cons. It shows how Google can understand commercial content and intent of searchers. Typically these snippets will show if you are searching for anything review related for a physical product.

pros cons snippet

So far I haven’t seen anything related to local businesses or entertainment. Usually they are not even marked up with schema, or even listed as “pros” and “cons”. Google just pulls them from paragraphs, so this shows how well it can understand intent behind our content.

I collected a large number of these from major review sites such as consumerreports.org, Cnet, NYTimes…

The most common snippets not specific to a category

  • easy to use
  • easy to clean
  • expensive
  • highly compact and low cost
  • fast performance
  • nimble and sporty
  • feels small light
  • reasonably priced
  • excellent battery life
  • longer battery life
  • impressive performance
  • great usability

The most common words (non stop words) are

  1. great
  2. excellent
  3. design
  4. performance
  5. easy
  6. life
  7. good
  8. well
  9. comfortable
  10. quality

Everyone can research their own SERPS and make sure to add these where appropriate for a SEO boost 🙂 (hint hint)
